Mississippi to Unveil Country Music Trail Marker Honoring Faith Hill
|The Mississippi Country Music Trail will unveil its 30th marker, honoring Faith Hill, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at the corner of Main and Mangum Streets in Star, Miss.
As a young girl growing up in Star, Faith found her passion for music and singing and followed her heart to Nashville at the age of 19. She has now been a force in the entertainment industry for over two decades, having achieved unprecedented success in the worlds of country and pop music as one of the top-selling and most-awarded female artists of all time. Over the course of her career, she has consistently broken chart records with fourteen #1 singles and multiple albums topping both the Billboard Top 100 and Country charts, with six certified multi-platinum studio albums and selling more than 30 million albums worldwide. She has won five Grammy Awards, twelve ACM Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, four American Music Awards, four People’s Choice Awards and three CMA Awards.
“I am so proud to be from Star and am honored to receive this marker on the Country Music Trail,” said Hill. “Growing up, my friends and I would hang out in the parking lot after church at Star Baptist Church, planning our lives and sharing our dreams. Having my marker near that church makes it even more special for me.”
“Faith Hill represents Mississippi on an international level, and we are so proud to honor her with this Mississippi Country Music Trail marker,” said Daron Wilson, interim director of Visit Mississippi. “She is a prime example of the influence our state has had on country music – the soundtrack of the American South. We wish continued success for Faith Hill in all her future endeavors. Mississippi will always welcome her home with open arms.”
A devoted wife and mother who puts family first, Faith is also a prolific philanthropist and an advocate for the arts nationally and in her home states of Tennessee and Mississippi. She and her husband, Tim McGraw live in Nashville with their three daughters.
Next year, Faith will bring her talents to daytime television as Co-Executive Producer of an innovative new daytime talk show, an informative, southern-inspired and fun-filled celebration of everyday living and activities that will be shot in Nashville.
“Rankin County, and especially Star, is proud to be the home of Faith Hill,” said Rankin County Supervisor Jared Morrison. “We are proud to place marker in her honor on the Mississippi Country Music Trail in the heart of Star, the small town she grew up in.”
